Update( 4th April 2012):

The state government has partially rolled back the tariff for consumers using up to 500 units. The final revised tariff is below:

At last, the speculated power tariff increase is in TNEB comes into effect from April 1, 2012. ( Now no longer valid. See above for right tariff)

Unlike the previous tariff plans, there is no uniform slabs for consumers. Four types of slab has been in force depending on the usage: Upto 100 unit, upto 200 units, upto 500 units, above 500 units. These slabs are created specifically to discourage consumers from utilizing more electricity.

All consumers are affected, but above 500 units consumers are the severely affected. Due to this differential slabs based on consumption, a consumer using 200 units will pay Rs360/- , but if the consumption is just one unit more 201, he has to pay: Rs 603.5/-

For 1000 units of bimonthly consumption the tariff will be whopping: Rs 4675/-

    my home usage  470 units   so  as per revised tariff how much  amount i have to pay

    • http://www.krishnamoorthy.in krishnamoorthy

      200*3+270*4 = 1680

      • Riaz Rizvan

        Since your usage is less than 470 units bimonthly, the charges you will pay are :
        (200*2) + (270*3) = 1210

        This is based on the revised tariff.

    The power tariff hike is very very high for all lower, lower middle & middle class people. Earlier i use to pay average per month Rs 500 to Rs 550 now Rs 1300/- which is un-bearable for a lower middle class persons like me. Amma has given very good gifts for electing her as Chief Minister.

    middle class or above midle class bi monthly consumption certainly comes above 5oo units.
    owing to subsidies available only to people consumption below 100, 200 and 500 units, the load on former section is more due to revised tariff. why the govt. is targetting only these starta of people for no mistakes on therir part. is the govt only for lower and reich people. not for the middle and upcoming people.

    any reply
