With the advent of Passport Seva Kendras and online Passport applications and appointments it has become easy for anyone to apply for new/renew/reissue of passport.
But, there are few doubts that arises when filling the application/documents required.
Some common questions related to these:
1) Do we need to bring our passport size photographs?
Ans: Photos are not required.
2) What needs to be printed after submitting the form.
Ans: Only the Application Receipt is required. No need carry other printouts like: Separate “Payment Receipt” or “Print Submitted Form”
3) Do I need to get attestation of Marriage certificate from Gazetted officers?
Ans: All documents require only Self attestation. On Aug 2014, MEA removed the requirements of attestation from Gazetted officers.
It has been decided to discontinue the requirement of attested
photocopies of original documents in all the cases including the above. The applicants, therefore, may submit self attested
documents of alL the original documents at the time of submission of
their passport applications. Under the self certification method,
original documents are required to be produced at the time of
verification / linal processing.
4) What are the documents required?
The Document Advisor is very good tool.
But it does not specifically mention about these:
To include spouse name: You need to carry marriage cerificate
To get ECNR: Degree certificate required
5) Can I book appointments for Tatkal Passport in Normal appointment quota?
Yes. But note that Tatkal passports are not issued at Saligramam Passport Seva Kendra. You should not select Saligramam if you are applying for Tatkal Passport.
Nowadays regular passports are issues within a week if there are no Police verification required.
